How do I book for an activity?

  Simply select the activity and you get in touch with us by phone or by email, and we'll explain you everything about it.

To Book an activity involves some cost or commitment?

  None. When the minimum number of persons established for the trip is reached, Picos Outdoor will contact every people who have made a reservation, to confirm who follow interested in the trip. Once guaranteed the activity, each participant will have to confirm a reservation with the payment of a deposit which will be deducted from the final price of the trip. The final reserve is made at the time that you will pay the signal.
  To do the activity individually or under the established places, consult the price.

Do I need previous experience?

  Experience is set by Picos Outdoor professionals, being necessary by the participants a bit of fitness and want to have fun.
   In the description of activities, in addiction with the tab Levels, you can evaluate its difficulty, and if you are trained physical and technically to do the activities, some of them needs you have previous experience in mountain or at least good physical condition. If you have questions, call us and we'll clarify it . Always is responsibility of each person if he/she's prepared technical and/or physically to participate in a particular activity.

What equipment do I need to take?

   Our activities, generally will run for isolated or remote places in mountainous areas. Therefore, it's very important to take the necessary and appropriate material. We'll distinguish between winter and summer backpack. The necessary equipment, could be the following:

 

SUMMER BACKPACK (One day):

  • 35-45 liters backpack. Total weight, once loaded, no more than 6-8 kg.

  • Rain cover. Or impermeable layer that covers the backpack.

  • Technical clothing (breathable material that will not soak). Long or short sleeves depending on the season.

  • Thin waterproof jacket and fleece.

  • A pair of gloves, buff, and fine cap (even in summer, in the mountains, can get cold).

  • Lightweight and comfortable footwear. With Vibram or similar and water repellent membrane (Gore-Tex or similar). Never release the shoes the first day of trekking.

  • A small headlamp with extra batteries.

  • Medical kit/vanity dressing including blisters, sun protection, mosquito repellent, and personal medicines if were necessary (allergies, inflammatory, etc).

  • Food.

  • Canteen / Camel back 1 liter or 1 and a half liter.

  • Sun cream protection, hat and sunglasses.

  • Mobile phone (turned off and stored in the backpack, protected from shocks).

  • Personal documentation and federative license/rescue insurance if possessed.

  • Change of clothes for the end of the activity (it's left in the car).

  • Small plastic bags for used toilet paper after do physiological needs away from a shelter. Never leave the paper under a stone, or burn.

 

Optional (but recommended):

  • Trekking poles.

  • Gaiters.

  • Compass and maps.

  • Any field guide of flora, fauna, etc

  • Photo camera.

  • Binoculars.

  • Powdered sports drinks.

 

SUMMER BACKPACK (Several days):

    Beside everythings for one day summer backpack:

  • Change of technical clothing (breathable material that will not soak). For example long-sleeved and short-sleeved depending on the season. Comfortable clothing for use in shelters.

  • Summer sleeping bag. Sheet bag, cotton or silk is enough. In the shelters have blankets.

  • Earplugs for shelters (* Important!!).

  • Food (breakfast and dinner is done in shelters, where you can also buy a picnic for the next day. It's advisable to carry energy bars, nuts, ... set at the number of days).

  • Light towel for the shower.

  • Vanity dressing. Soap (in good weather, in some shelters some clothes can be washed).

 

WINTER BACKPACK:

   Beside everythings for summer backpack:

  • Waterproof and breathable pants (Gore-Tex or similar).

  • Winter boots and socks parts.

  • Gaiters.

  • Polar cap and neck gaiter.

  • Winter gloves and thin gloves.

  • Snow goggles.

  • Sunglasses parts.

  • Hot drink thermo.

  • If we must stay overnight in shelter, sleeping bag (recommended bivy).

  • For activities in snowy terrain: transceiver (DVA), shovel, probe, snowshoes and poles.
