Vegarredonda Refuge / Ordiales Viewpoint
Picos de Europa
Senderismo Picos de Europa

The Cornión Massif or Western Massif of Los Picos de Europa, was the origin of the creation of the Los Picos de Europa National Park, originally called the Covadonga Mountain National Park, and the first National Park in Spain. It is the largest and most varied of the three landscapes that make up the Los Picos de Europa National Park . This massif brings together the contrasts of the intense green of the pastoral fertile plains, with the aridity of the characteristic limestone rock of the Picos, together with the spectacular singularity of the Covadonga Lakes. It's the massif where the Vegarredonda Refuge is located, a strategic point to ascend the highest peaks of the massif and an obligatory area of passage to visit the Ordiales viewpoint, a place with beautiful views towards Amieva, Ponga and the Cantabrian Mountain Range and where Pedro Pidal, forerunner of the National Park and first climber of Picu Urriellu with Gregorio Pérez "El Cainejo", is buried.
