The mountain Toubkal at 4,167 meters, it is the highest peak in North Africa. It is located in the Toubkal National Park, in Morocco, which was founded during the French protectorate in 1942. Its extension is 100,000 ha, and it is located in the Alto Atlas Western, between N'Fiss and Ourika valleys.

The Toubkal, is a mountainous massif of volcanic origin. Its embedded valleys and itsberber culture, its adobe buildings, terraced crops, rock carvings, abundant flora and fauna and the friendly welcome of its people, make this trekking essential.

An experience that you should not miss and a unique opportunity to get to know these spectacular mountains and a different culture, which we are lucky to have so close.

 

Program:

Meeting point: Marrakech Airport.                   Duration: 4 days.

​

Day 1: Meeting at the airport of Marrakesh(460m), welcome by our local guide, and transfer to the Berber town of Imlil(1,770m), in the heart of the Toubkal valley, about 64 km south of the city of Marrakech, our accommodation and starting point for the trekking. Dinner at the hotel and explanation of the route.

​

Day 2: After breakfast at the hotel, our local team (accompanying local guide, cook and mules) awaits us to start the trekking.  We start walking along mule trails, passing through the town of Armed (1,850m), towards Marabout Sidi Chamharouch (2,350m), a place of pilgrimage, where we will enjoy a succulent meal prepared on site by our cook. We continue enjoying the impressive landscape of the Atlas Massif. A stop for traditional tea en Imi n'Tifrite, then we will go through the Isgan n'Wagouts, to reach the Neltner refuge (3,207m) from the French Alpine Club, where we will spend the night. Despite the hard day, everyone will be satisfied to stay in such a place.

Day 3:  Day of ascent to Toubkal (4,167m).We will get up early around five in the morning, to make the ascent safely. We will first go up to the hole de Akhbi n'Tizi (3,700m), from where we continue gently ascending through a wide channel, to reach the Toubkal Pass (3,950m), from where we will climb the  Toubkal Ridge, which will leave us in the Toubkal summit at 4,167 meters, where if the day allows it, we will enjoy spectacular views of the Atlas. We descend to the refuge, to continue to Imlil, where we will spend the night, enjoying a well-deserved dinner before having reached our objective.

Day 4: Breakfast in Imlil and transfer to Marrakech to enjoy the city or transfer to Marrakech airport. Farewell and end of the trip.
