The Urrielles Massif or Picos de Europa Central Massif, located between the valleys excavated by the Cares and Duje rivers, is undoubtedly the most rugged, the one with the greatest, highest and most representative peaks in the Picos de Europa National Park such as Torrecerredo at 2,648 meters, the highest altitude of these mountains and the entire Cantabrian Range or Picu Urriellu (Naranjo de Bulnes), the authentic symbol of the Asturian mountain and the National Park and place where written, since its conquest in 1905, the most beautiful mountaineering pages in the Iberian Peninsula. In this trek we'll visit the Collado Jermoso Refuge, one of the most beautiful Refuges in the National Park both for the spectacularity of the place and for the treatment provided by the staff who run it. You'll surely want to come back.

Program:

Meeting point: Parking at the Posada de Valdeón. Duration: 2 days.

Day 1: On our first day of trekking, we have a tough but beautiful journey ahead, in which we will enter the Central massif , and which will take us from Posada de Valdeón (940m) on a pleasant walk along the Cares river to the town of Cordinanes (860m), where the ascent to the Collado Jermoso refuge (2,046m) begins. The route will take us to the beautiful beech forest of Asotín, which will leave us in Asotín shepperold, a spectacular place. From here we'll ascend to the Collado Jermoso refuge, located in one of the most spectacular and beautiful places in the entire National Park. Located on the edge of a precipice and surrounded by the steep peaks of the Llambrión group, opposite the spectacular Torre del Friero peak, and with magnificent views over Valdeón valley and the Cornión Massif, with Peña Santa always standing out. Despite the hard day, everyone will be satisfied to stay in such a place.

Day 2: This day we will go to the Vega de Liordes (1,880m), a fairytale place and one of the two peatlands of the National Park, with truly unique plant and animal species. From Vega de Liordes, we'll ascend to the Pedabejo Channel (2,050m), through which we'll descend enjoying the views towards Valdeón. From Caben de Remoña (1,775m) we'll follow the path that will take us to Posada de Valdeón (940m), where this spectacular trek ends.

It includes:

  • Mountain Guide Service titled and with AEGM-UIMLA accreditation.

  • One night accommodation at the Collado Jermoso Refuge.

  • A half board (dinner + breakfast) at the Collado Jermoso Refuge.

  • Collective security material.

  • Accident and RC insurance.

 

Does not include:

  • Transport.

  • Any other item not mentioned as included.

 

  • In the refuge you can buy a picnic for the day, avoiding carrying weight.

  • In the shelter there are blankets. Taking a summer sleeping bag or a sheet sleeping bag is enough.

  • The route may be altered depending on weather conditions, availability at the refuge and / or other types of circumstances, always thinking in the safety of the group.
